Walt Disney World Gift Card Trick: Combine your Cards

Disney gift cards are a great tool for saving for your upcoming trip. Whether you purchase them for yourself or request them as gifts for your children, gift cards are a great way to set aside money for your vacation.

ORDER DISNEY GIFT CARDS FROM THE DISNEY STORE

We love them for keeping track of spending while at the resort and parks and they are also a great way to give your children their own money to spend. Before each trip, we take time to combine any gift cards we have to make life a little easier! I like to have one for each child’s spending money and one for family expenses, including booking our hotel.

Why Combine your Disney Gift Cards?

If you are able to accumulate a good amount of gift cards ahead of your trip, it can be a little bit frustrating having to carry them around and keep track of their balances. Many times we have arrived at the checkout shuffling a few gift cards with unknown balances remaining.

There are also some instances where you will only be able to use one gift card for your purchase. It is helpful to have one card to use for booking your hotel, as you will only be able to add one to your payment online. You can also use a gift card for mobile checkout in stores and when ordering food on your My Disney Experience App. Again, you will only be able to add one so it is helpful to have cards with higher balances.

Using Gift Cards to Book Your Trip

You may use a gift card when booking your vacation directly through Walt Disney World. This may include your on-property hotel stay, park tickets and dining plans. When booking directly on the Disney website, you’ll have the option to add one gift card to pay for all or a portion of your booking.

Paying for your vacation with a Disney Gift Card

With this trick, we have used gift cards to pay for whole weekend stays!

You will also be required to enter another form of payment in order to checkout. If your gift card covers the whole balance, your card will not be charged, otherwise you may specify how much you would like your gift card to cover and the balance will be paid with your other form of payment.

Disney Gift Cards for Mobile Food Ordering

You may also use Disney gift cards in the My Disney Experience app for dining with mobile ordering. This is another instance where you can add just one gift card.

Combining Your Card Balances

This one trick will save you a great deal of time and hassle by combining your gift card balances ahead of your trip!

And it is very simple.

First, you’ll want to gather all of your gift cards and scratch off the backs to show the full account number and security code.

Then, head over to disneygiftcard.com where you will set up an account.

Once you have set up your login and password you are ready to begin adding your cards. Select My Cards from the top menu and enter up to 6 cards’ information (if you have more than 5 cards, just set them aside until after the next step).

Note: The website updates frequently so it may not look identical to the screenshots shared below, but the steps will be the same or very similar!

Now that you have your cards entered, choose one that will be the card to hold all of your balances. This card will be your primary card. Click on the card’s photo to show a list of options. Be sure you don’t mix this card up with the others!

To move balances from your other cards onto one main card, select “ADD FUNDS FROM ANOTHER CARD”. The screen will then display all of the other cards you have entered. Each will have a checkbox to select to move the balance from that card to your primary card.

Once you have confirmed the transfer you’ll be asked if you would like to delete or keep the empty cards. If you have more than 6 cards you wish to combine you can easily delete the now empty ones so that you can continue to add more cards.

Then just repeat the process until you’ve merged all of your Disney gift card balances!

You may wish to transfer all balances to one card, split the total for each member of your family or carry a few cards with smaller balances.

And thats it! I wish someone had taught me this simple trick sooner, so I am happy to be sharing it with you!
