How to Find Disney’s Hidden Petting Zoo

The adventure begins in Africa! Head to the Wildlife Express Train station in Harambe Village, near Kilimanjaro Safaris. We like to hop on right after the safari and Gorilla Fall’s trail since the exit will let you out right at the entrance. This dedicated steam train runs continuously throughout the day, making the short journey to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. The train ride itself is part of the experience – little ones will love watching behind-the-scenes areas of Animal Kingdom, including glimpses of animal housing and care facilities.

Why This Is One of Our Favorite Animal Kingdom Spots

Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and especially the Affection Section, has become our go-to recommendation for families with toddlers at Animal Kingdom. While the park’s bigger attractions get most of the attention, this secluded area provides a perfect blend of entertainment and education. The calm atmosphere, hands-on experiences, and air-conditioned spaces make it an ideal retreat during busy park days.

What makes it truly special is watching little ones light up as they make their first connection with gentle farm animals. Whether your toddler is boldly brushing a goat or cautiously observing from a distance, these moments of discovery are pure Disney magic – without the overwhelming stimulation found in other parts of the park.

The best part? While this area never feels crowded, it also never feels empty, creating a comfortable environment where toddlers can explore at their own pace. Combined with the fun train ride, indoor activities, and animal care experiences, Rafiki’s Planet Watch offers everything a family needs for a memorable break during their Animal Kingdom adventure.
