Potty Training at Disney World: Tips, Advice, and Must-Have Items
Planning a Disney World vacation with a potty-training toddler? While this combination might seem challenging, our comprehensive guide will help you navigate the parks confidently with your little one. We’ll cover everything from park facilities to essential items you’ll need, ensuring your magical vacation stays magical – even during bathroom breaks!
Are There Toddler-Sized Toilets at Disney World?
Unfortunately, Disney World does not provide toddler-sized toilets in their parks. While many online forums mention toddler toilets at Epcot’s Baby Care Center, this information is outdated. However, don’t worry – we’ll share several solutions to make bathroom visits manageable for your little one.

Disney World Baby Care Centers: Your Ultimate Rest Stop
Each Disney park features a fully-equipped Baby Care Center, offering essential amenities for families with young children. While they don’t have toddler-sized toilets, these centers provide:
- Emergency baby supplies
- Private/semi-private bathrooms
- Clean changing facilities
- Nursing rooms
- High chairs
- Microwaves
The Baby Care Centers are a fantastic perk of the Disney Parks.
Baby Care Center Locations
- Magic Kingdom: Located next to Crystal Palace (left side when facing the castle from Main Street)
- Epcot: Behind the Odyssey Center, just before Mexico pavilion
- Hollywood Studios: Inside guest relations building, immediately left of entrance
- Animal Kingdom: Located in the alley near Disney Vacation Club booth, just past Creature Comforts (Starbucks)
All of these can be located on the maps in the My Disney Experience Mobile App by filtering for “guest services”. Any cast member can also direct you there.
Essential Tools for Potty Training Success at Disney
1. Portable Potty Seats
This post contains affiliate links for items that we have found to be helpful. Disney with Toddlers receives a small commission for purchases through these links at no extra cost to you.
A compact, portable potty seat is invaluable for maintaining your potty training progress. These seats help toddlers feel secure on full-sized toilets, preventing potential regression. We recommend bringing one that:
- Folds compactly
- Includes a carrying bag
- Comes with waterproof storage options
The one pictured, and linked here is the one we used and is perfect to bring to the parks. It was also useful in many of the hotel rooms that have larger toilets.
2. Post-It Notes for Auto-Flush
Automatic toilets throughout Disney parks can startle toddlers and potentially create bathroom anxiety. Pack Post-It notes to cover automatic flush sensors before your child uses the facilities. This simple hack prevents unexpected flushes that might frighten your little one.
Prepare a Back-up Plan
The best thing you can do is to be prepared. Disney is full of amazing, fun distractions and it may be hard for toddlers to pay attention. Aside from being accommodating and giving constant reminders and opportunities to try, just be prepared in case an accident does happen.
Consider packing some training pants and definitely bring a change of clothes and some wipes with you in your park bag.
Smart Strategies for Potty Training Success
Daytime Planning
- Pack strategically:
- Multiple clothing changes
- Training pants
- Wet wipes
- Waterproof bags for accidents
- Portable potty seat
- Create a bathroom schedule:
- Visit restrooms before joining long queues or waiting for parades/fireworks
- Plan regular bathroom breaks between attractions and after meals
- Watch for your child’s usual signals
Overnight Success Strategies

Hotel stays can disrupt established potty training routines. Toddlers are used to being in a familiar environment and know what to expect and where to go. Try your best to familiarize them with the room layout and bathroom location. If your little one typically gets up to use the bathroom at night, consider bringing a nightlight to help them find the way without turning on the bright hotel lights.
Most hotels, if not all, have waterproof liners on the mattresses so you won’t have to worry about a damage cost. But you may want to pack some disposable mattress pads to save you from having to strip down to the mattress in the middle of the night should an accident happen (speaking from experience here).
Try your best to maintain a familiar bedtime routine whenever possible. Most nights, you may find yourself carrying an already sleeping toddler back to your room, but try your best to get them on the potty one last time before tucking them in.
Making Magic While Maintaining Progress
Remember that visiting Disney World during potty training is completely manageable with proper preparation. Focus on:
- Maintaining a positive attitude
- Celebrating successful bathroom visits, maybe even bring small treats along with you
- Being flexible with your schedule, allow for unexpected toilet visits
- Creating magical memories despite the extra bathroom breaks
Your Disney vacation can still be incredible while supporting your toddler’s potty training journey. With these strategies and tools, you’re well-equipped to handle any bathroom-related challenges that may arise during your magical stay.
