Does Walt Disney World have Toddler Toilets?
If you are in the midst of potty training your toddler and have an approaching trip to Walt Disney World, you may be wondering if the resort is potty-training-friendly. The short answer is no.
When I first looked into this for my own experience I found a forum post that indicated that the Baby Care Center at Epcot did have toddler-sized toilets. Upon entering the park, we rushed over to the care center only to find that the toddler potty did not exist.
The Baby Care Centers are a fantastic perk of the Disney Parks. If you are not yet familiar, each of the four parks has a designated care center specifically for those with infants and toddlers. There you will find changing tables, microwaves, nursing rooms, high chairs and an array of products for infant care should you forget anything.
They all do have a private or semi-private bathroom, but if they did once have toddler-sized toilets, they no longer do.
Baby Care Center Locations in each park:
- Magic Kingdom: Next to the Crystal Palace, this is to the left when Main Street opens up, if facing the castle
- Epcot: Futureworld behind the Odyssey center, just before Mexico
- Hollywood Studios: Just after the entrance on the left, inside the guest relations building (there is sometimes a line for guest relations, let the cast member know you are there for the BCC to skip it)
- Animal Kingdom: Just after Creature Comforts (a.k.a. Starbucks), in the alley by the Disney Vacation Club booth
All of these can be located on the maps in the My Disney Experience Mobile App by filtering for “guest services”. Any cast member can also direct you there.
Potty Training at Disney: Portable Potty Seats
If you have a toddler who is not keen on balancing on a full-sized toilet yet, you may be concerned about regression after all of your hard work potty training. One option would be to bring a portable toddler potty seat with you to the parks. This will also be useful in your hotel as many of them have larger, sometimes oddly shaped seats.
A portable potty seat, such as this one available on Amazon for around $15, folds to be compact and is very light weight. The one linked above also comes with a carrying bag and clear, waterproof zip bag. These clear bags are ideal because your bags will be checked when entering the park, but you could also carry the seat in a wet bag inside your pack or stroller.
Potty Training at Disney: Post-It Notes
Another tip is to carry a small stack of post-it notes to cover the automatic flush sensors. If you’re still in the beginning stages of potty training, auto flush toilets may be a new thing for your toddler. These can sometimes be frightening and are very common throughout the parks. To prevent a possible scare, try placing a post-it over the sensor to cover it before getting your little one ready to go.
Prepare a Back-up Plan
The best thing you can do is to be prepared. Disney is full of amazing, fun distractions and it may be hard for toddlers to pay attention. Aside from being accommodating and giving constant reminders and opportunities to try, just be prepared in case an accident does happen.
Consider packing some training pants and definitely bring a change of clothes and some wipes.
Overnight Potty Training
You may also want to consider a plan for overnight. If you’ve switched from overnight training pants recently then a change of environment, an altered bedtime routine and lots of water keeping hydrated all day can throw a wrench in nighttime potty training.
Most hotels, if not all, have waterproof liners on the mattresses so you won’t have to worry about a damage cost. But you may want to pack some disposable mattress pads to save you from having to strip down to the mattress in the middle of the night should an accident happen (I may or may not be speaking from experience here…).
Embarking on a Disney World trip while potty training your toddler may seem like a daunting task, but with the right strategies, preparation and a positive mindset, it can be a successful and memorable experience. Remember to be patient and flexible, celebrating every small victory along the way.
Embrace the journey, make lasting memories, and savor this special time with your little one. Wishing you a magical and successful potty training adventure at Disney World!
